What it means to grow older!
It is amazing, yet terrifying to think about how short life is, and how it passes us by so quickly. One day we are 5, and soon after, we are in our mid 20’s. As they say: “Time does really fly fast!” Even when you think time will never pass, it does pass, even faster than anticipated!
When we were younger, we were so irresponsible; we didn’t have a care in the world. The only things we cared about were playing games with our friends. Yet, we were not satisfied! We looked at our parents, and wished we were older. We used to get mad about the fact that we needed to ask them for permission, if we wanted to have a sleepover at our friend’s house, or even if we wanted to go on a school trip. In fact, it felt like we needed to seek their permission for everything that we did. If we didn’t, we would get into trouble, by getting grounded, and not being allowed to watch TV for a whole week.
Oh, we used to hate it so very much! We were so impatient about growing older and making our own decisions. As years passed by, we grew into young teenagers. Little by little, we were making some decisions on our own. Our parents were more lenient on us, yet, they corrected us if we made mistakes. We used to get so mad and felt as if our parents wanted to dictate our lives. We wanted to grow much older, so that we could have more freedom, and not rely on our parents as much. Little did we know, that the time that we so much desired, would soon come.
Once we graduated from high school, right after, came college. We loved those years; they were probably the best years of our lives. We felt as if we finally were where we always wanted to be. Most of us went away to school; some of us lived on campus, while others, rented out apartments with some of their friends.
