Introduction
This report consists of the recommendation for job design, recruitment, selection methodologies and implementation to entice talents and satisfy the two new job positions required for the launch of YRC Worldwide Inc. in Singapore.
YRC Worldwide Inc., one of the top logistic transportation company worldwide founded in 1929 by G.C. "Cleve" Harrell, A.J. Harrell, headquarter based in USA. They have the largest networks in America with local, regional and national capacity. They offer top notch expertise in heavyweight shipments and flexible supply-chain solutions, ensuring customers can ship industrial, commercial and retail goods with assurance (YRC Worldwide Inc, 2014). In 2011, revenue of $4.869 billion and currently has over 26,000 employees worldwide who served more than 200,000 customers and delivering more than 22 million shipments annually.
The reason why YRC Worldwide Inc. plans to set up in Singapore because Singapore was ranked by The World Bank as No. 1 Logistics Hub in Asia in 2014 Logistics Performance Index (Singapore Economic Development Board, 2014). Singapore's vital area in the heart of Asia region and at the nexus of real dispatching paths has made it an essential logistics center point and channel for world exchange. Today, Singapore is a prize area for real logistic firms, with the top well-known company like DHL, UPS, Fedex, Schenker and Toll have their headquarter based in Singapore.
Job Design/Job Description
The establishment of a Singapore office would require the recruitment of various key employees, two of which are a Regional Operation Manager and an Assistant Manager. The regional operation manager is vital to the company due to the nature of this business as he is responsible in overseeing and coordinating the business operations of YRC. The second position is the assistant manager in logistic-customer services and operation, whose job requirement is to assist the regional operation manager in the day to day micro level operations such as, to manage the fulfilment management operation, overview of customer order and oversee the physical stock inventory to ensure proper procedures are carried out by the logistic operators in the warehouse. Refer to the job description summary appendix I for more information.
Recruitment Strategy
Recruiter attempt a variety of technology trends to draw in the best talent for their organization, Generally, Personnel policies, Recruitment sources, Characteristics and behaviour of the recruiter are three primary focuses for organization to concentrate in recruitment to accumulate talents. In this case, I will use external sources of recruitment for the two job position.
The first job position of Regional Operation Manager, I will use headhunter and e-recruiting. I will hire Hudson, a well-known and award winning company for the past year as our headhunter in Singapore, they are an important tools to find talent and high level professionals to meet the specific job requirement. Hudson, an international talent solutions company in 22 countries and over 15 years of experience with highly skill in leadership and specialized recruitment. And expertist in professional recruitment, recruitment process outsourcing and talent management (Hudson Global, 2014). With an average of quality shortlisting in 3-5 days or faster. The advantage of using headhunter is because they help to provide an advantage in the competitive job market by improving and presenting to the potential employer and assisting jobs that are not able to be find in newspaper or online. Some benefits includes lesser time spending in applying for jobs, higher salary, wider net for job search, discreet job search, honest assessment and open disclose. Secondly for E-recruiting, with advance technology key role in recruitment on website that communication is widespread that can be accessible through multiple devices such as website, mobile apps, social networks and Linked In.
