Ancient Egyptian cuisine was known as a healthy meal with a balance of fish, vegetable and bread. As Kashmira Lad (2011) pointed that the food was prepared in different ways in open fire such as boil, fry, roast or bake. The Egyptian used wood as fuel when they cooked. The Egyptian cooking method was supposed to be simple that led to the simplicity in requiring the cooking utensils. This was demonstrated by the finding of the cooking items in the tombs. The kitchen built with an open air direction was located in the corner of the yard ("Food: Bread, beer, and all good things",n.d.). The Egyptian used all of the clay cooking utensils such as : pots, pans, spoons or ladles. Barry Gray (2006) mentioned that at this time, clay was employed to produce equipment because steel or plastic was not known. While beverage was preserved in pottery vessels which was decorated with simple vignettes, food was kept in pots or baskets made from palm leaves with the purpose of preventing rodent intrusion ("Household utensils and materials",n.d.). Stone knives were used as a tool in preparing ingredients (Ancient Egypt Utensils). After the food was cooked, it was dished up on clay dishes utilized widely by Egyptian .Besides that, the rich employed bronze or bone ones (Kashmira Lad,2011, " Ancient Egyptian Food"). When the food was served, the people used their finger to eat and at the end of the meal, they washed their hands in a bowl of water ("Food: Bread, beer, and all good things",n.d.).
