Bayan Ko

Bayan Ko is an original series by GMA News TV that tells the story of newly-elected Mayor Joseph Santiago who returns to his hometown in Lagros to change it for the better. On the first part of Bayan Ko that we have watched last Friday, it shows how the officials of Lagros improperly managed their government for a reason that their former mayor was not strict on imposing the rules and regulations for his/her subordinates and the newly-elected mayor which is Mayor Joseph Santiago tries to correct all those improperly actions. This series shows on how their public officers do not imposed a Good Governance for their place. They don’t follow the rules for public bidding for the materials or people they will hire for making of their projects in their place which is not the right way for making decisions whereas Mayor Santiago stated that “kailangan ang public bidding para maiwasan ang lagay at kickbacks ng mga padrino na gustong pagkakwartahan ang gobyerno”, the officials in the government are not following on the rules for their jobs such as they close the office of some government institution earlier on the time they should closed it, they ask some additional payment for processing of the papers of the people, and some of their employees stayed at the municipal and treat it as their home and other wrongdoings.

        Bayan Ko surely signifies how our government nowadays being administer by our public officials and Mayor Joseph Santiago gives us hope that someday or someone can change all these wrongdoings for the improvement of our nation.
