1. Name people in the country that you selected in the following areas?
a. Vladimir Putin is the president of Russia. He has been their president since May 7, 2012. Putin was a KGB officer for sixteen years. He would reach the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before he retired and entered politics.
b. Vladimir Mayakovsky was a Russian poet during the late 1800s. His rise to fame as a leader came from poems such as A Cloud in Trousers (1915) and Backbone Flute (1916). In 1930 Mayakovsky committed suicide at the age of 36.
c. Fyodor Dostoyevsk was a Russian novelist and philosopher. His work was known to explore the human psychology within the troubled atmosphere of the 19th-century Russia. In 1849 he was arrested for his involvement in the Petrashevsky Circle, which was a secret society of liberal utopians. His work has been translated into more then 170 different languages.
d. Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov is a famous Russian composer who wrote the music for the national anthem. Know as Sacha, as a boy he was renowned by his excellent singing voice. He founded the Aleandrov Ensemble, which he was its director for many years.
e. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was a famous Russian novelist. He was a global awareness activist. Born in 1918, he was a Novelist, Soldier and Teacher. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1970 and the Templeton Prize in 1983. Solzhenitsyn died in 2008 at the age of 89.
f. Vladimir Mashkov is a famous Russian Actor. He is known for his roles in Behind Enemy Lines and Mission Impossible. He has won a total of nine awards most recently the 26th Moscow International Film Festival.
g. Konstantin Ernst is a Russian director, producer and TV personality. He is currently the Director General of the Channel One. From 1988 to 1990 he worked at the First Channel of the Soviet TV in the program “Vzglyad”.
h. One extremely Famous Russian inventor was Mikhail Kalashnikov. He is the inventor o the AK-47 and the AK-74. He is also the recipient of the USSR state Prize in 1949, the Hero of Socialist Labor in 1958 and the Stalin Prize in 1949.
i. Patriarch Kirill is a Russian Orthodox Bishop as of February 2009. Patriarch Kirill was previously Archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church. He started his role as Archbishop September 2, 1977. He has claimed numerous Russian Orthodox Church awards, Russian Federation awards and Honorary Citizenship awards.
j. Ilya Kabakov is a conceptual artist. He worked for thirty years in Moscow from 1950 to the late 1980s. Some of his most famous work includes The Fallen Chandelier and Installations. His Installations project includes work such as Red Wagon, The Toilet, The Palace of Projects and Where is our Place?.
