MAO ZEDONG'S SPEECH

[pic 1]

June 19, 1975

Good evening People’s Republic of China, I am here today for the reason that I want you to be aware, comply, and respect what I have done for this country. First, as today is my 30th anniversary of ruling China, I will take this time to make a tribute to all of my efforts.

As you may all know, before my government, due to the presence of the Qing dynasty, my people were suffering because of the heavy taxes. This lead them to poor living conditions and indifference to foreign influence. Nevertheless, fortuitously, through various uprisings and rebellions, we could find ourselves at the 1911 revolution in which this dejected dynasty was overthrown. Owing to this fact, our party, the Communist Party of China (CCP), was able to rise to power alongside with the Kuomintang. I, myself, am a communist, and I believe that communist ideologies are the best approach to achieve prosperity. This was, and is the reason why I encouraged the adoption of communist ideologies in the local communities our party visited. I enacted communist policies such as land redistribution, which was highly supported by the peasants since they were previously been oppressed by self-seeking landowners who collected excessive and unnecessary taxes.

Propaganda performed and is performing a crucial role in my government. This is an excellent approach to my citizens, letting them know that my ideologies, thus the communism, is right for their welfare and desires them an exceptional life. At first, my major aim was trying to help my people, but throughout time, there has been certain opposition to my ideologies. At the outset, it was a big enigma for me that these type of people were subsisting in my country, in my government. The solution for this issue was, of course, the punishment. My most significant punishment was the relocation of jobs and or forcing into labor. There was also the forcing into re-education to change their attitudes so that in the end, they were fully complying.

Moving the focal point to the foreign and global relationships, I started to have a positive relationship with Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union since we had similar objectives, means, and aims on our own countries. Yet, I could not become to trust my so thought comrade, for the reason that he had a low opinion on me and on my country itself. Joseph Stalin tried to persuade me to join the US supported government, which was absolutely absurd, since the US attempted to reach a two-Stated China solution in terms of the disagreement with Taiwan, an integral part of China. Moreover, when our party rose to power, I was glorified for the fact that I was going to visit Joseph Stalin. However, when I had my trip to Moscow, I was wholly, and utterly disregarded, humiliated, ignored, and disrespected. Furthermore, the soviets stimulated North Korea to invade its primary enemy, South Korea, with the “promise” that they will provide military equipments, but instead, it was our military soldiers who did all the sacrifice in favor of the Soviet Union. These actions settled an atrocious relationship between Joseph Stalin and myself.
