Population in Europe

The population in Europe during the eighteenth century was on a great rise and this was because of the falling death rates during the time. Some causes that led to the rise in population were; the agricultural revolution, sanitization, and the industrial revolution.
With the new phase in European climate giving increased temperatures farmers were able to try new techniques which allowed crop yields to flourish during the time period. Many farmers began to rotate crops to allow soil to replenish and make it good for animals to graze in and also allowed the grazed soil to become naturally fertilized. Enclosure also allowed for more profits and output from crops because it allowed sections of land to be owned instead of shared which would allow for real landowners to control their own property and keep it from peasants. The enclosure movement allowed large groups to be fed from the landowners instead of peasants taking up common ground for one family.
The agricultural revolution was able to happen because of the climate becoming more stable but another important part of population growth was sanitization. This would include plagues and diseases becoming reduced due to medicine and other sanitary improvements. One new prevention to disease was an improved irrigation system in farms which would help move waste water out away from the crops at a faster rate and ensure a smaller chance of sickness spreading through crops. The new agricultural systems helped slow illness from crops but other plagues began to slow in progression and started taking less lives. All of the change from farming systems and agriculture led to a huge movement known as the industrial revolution.
The industrial revolution is mainly known for creating new ideas and streamlining factories and not for lowering death rates. Death rates were lowered as a side effect of the revolution. With improved machinery such as the steam engine or fly shuttle factories
