Like Al Qaeda, the Islamic State (ISIS) is a product of the United States, a terrorist group intended to partition and defeat the oil-producing regions in the Middle East. In addition, ISIS is a group to oppose Iran’s increasing impact in the Middle East. While ISIS is the latest terror group, it is certainly backfiring. In the recent past, the group has escalated to worldwide prominence following its beheading US journalists. The paper sets out to substantiate that the Iraq War led to the formation of the terrorist group ISIS. After 2010, ISIS rebranded and refocused on Syria in various ways; between the regime and the rebels (Laub, 2015). It’s the third, neo-Cold War that acted as a wake-up call for American policy makers to arm Islamists radicals in Syria. This because Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, is Russian supporter. US policy in the Middle East is mainly concerned with Israel and oil. The attack on Iraq has to some extend Washington’s desire for oil; however the unending air strikes in Syria and financial sanctions on Iran are not associated with Israel. The objective is depriving Israel’s bordering rivals of essential Syrian and Iranian support. Much as the formation group ISIS was due to the war in Iraq; it was used by the US to topple Syrian government and pressurize Iran. The last time Iran attacked another country was in 1738. Since independence in 1776, United States has been involved in more than 53 military attacks. Regardless of what media depicts about the Iraq war, Iran is not a danger to regional security, but Washington is (Laub, 2015).
