The politician I admire the most is Congressman Ron Paul because of his view on certain things as well as his experience within the governmental aspect. He started his governmental career in the 1970's and throughout that time he was known in the house to always stick to his beliefs. That speaks volumes for a person, especially a person who wants to run our country. Until this paper came about I did not know what a government paid junket was but I looked into that. In a nutshell it is an awesome escape with all the bells and whistles for the congressmen, paid for with our tax dollars. If you ask me I think that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of and I do not agree that our tax dollars should go to fund a nice vacation for the congressmen. There are plenty of hard working Americans out there that do not expect a great weekend get-away to be funded by their employers. We just go and put in our hard work to earn a living for ourselves and our families. Congressman Ron Paul has never taken part in a government paid junket for this same reason. This tells me that his focus is not on himself or the enjoyment of the other congressmen, his focus is that of the nation. As a congressman he has never voted to raise taxes, and he has never voted to raise the congressional pay. Congressional pay at this point is approximately $160,000 annually, Wow that is a nice chunk of change. As we discussed in class, not many of the people of the house do it but there are those few and in between that do not take their pay, and although he may take it he certainly does not feel that it is necessary to raise it. A huge thing for the house as well is the fact that Congressman Ron Paul returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. With an economy like ours in this day in age it is a must to vote for a President that knows how to work a budget, not one who will continue to get us more and more in debt by making horrible choices along with those of congress. Looking over Ron Paul's track record I have agreed on most everything that he believes in. He is an admirable man who believes in the all American dream and has goals, and visions to bring it all to a reality for the American people to the best of his ability. The politician I dislike the most is Governor Rick Perry because of numerous reasons. For starters let's begin with the fact that we are in a tough economic situation in the U.S.A right now. We have seen tough times before
