Who Dominates Society

1. The topic question at hand is whether or not males dominate females in all societies. This issue is important to know and understand because whether or not this topic is true it poses the thought on the average person, which sex has more control. When one looks at each sex one can see that men and women are both different not only biologically but also physically. In most societies in the past and today it is your genetics that determine your role and or status among your people within the culture. In the argument at hand I have decided to side with the side that states that the male is the dominant sex among societies. One reason I believe this to be true is that most societies are already a patriarchal society, which means ruled by men and most roles of importance in each society are empowered by men.

2. I say this because throughout history men have ruled most societies. One reason might be that when people were still in the hunter-gatherer stage it was the men who held the physical advantage and who provided the group with food. As for the genetic side, when a child is born in most societies they want a male born child because in most societies it is only men that inherit wealth and status from their family so lineage comes into play in the dominance of men in society because that’s how it has always been. Lastly even if one looked at a relationship between a man and a woman the man seems to be the more dominant one. The women take the last name of the men and usually men are the main source of income. Men typically are looked at as the head of the household and always have been because in most cultures that is true. Yet again this dependency could have come from the hunter gatherer stage when women depended on the physical handiness on the men to survive which is why tend to seem more dominant.
