Assignment 3
1. According to the text PRC is worried about Microsoft having a backdoor and being able to see their information without them knowing about it. If they were to use an open-source program code they would not have to worry about this. I would argue that open-source is a public code so there can be no backdoor there for no worries of anyone seeing something without them knowing about it.
2. If I was working in marketing for Microsoft I would argue against the open-source code. There argument against Microsoft is that they are afraid the US can have a backdoor into their government information. However what they might no realize is that the US can see what is on an open-source code, PRC can just monitor this with the open-source code. There really is no benefit of this. I would just argue their reasoning behind having the open-source if flawed. There is not reason to believe Microsoft would share confidential information or "spy" on the PRC.
3. Windows
1. User friendly
2. Easier to hack into
3. Easier to fix problems, almost anyone can work in Windows
4. More expensive initially but not in the long run
Linux
1. They would have to hire an outside company to set up
2. Less likely to have hackers because there is a more unique code and very few people are experienced in Linux.
3. They would have to hire an outside company to diagnose and fix problems.
4. It is free to everyone who can use it.
