Population control is something many nations have to consider in some point in time. If populations keep rising, there won’t be enough resources to sustain everyone. China is a good example of a country who has had to do something about their rapidly increasing population. They resorted in implementing a one-child policy. Each couple is only allowed to have one child. Those with one child get many privileges while penalties are given to those who have more than one. China should not be imposing the one-child policy it has implication such as the only child being expected to acquire the little emperor syndrome, having the burden of taking care of two parents and four grandparents and women forced to have abortions and are being kidnapped. On the other hand many Chinese agree that this policy should not be put out of practice because it has been proven that is has lowered the birth rate and population.

Being an only child in a family allows for extreme spoiling. Children grow up with attention and resources being directed to them with no understanding of the word “share” (Rhee, Edusblog). If they had a bigger family, the older generation would not have to worry about surviving but would have a whole neighborhood to take care of them. This also imposes a problem on the economy as the government has to supply the needs of more and more older people (Rhee, Edusblog).
