In my opinion, the type of conflict illustrated in the scenario could be an ego conflict which happens when a disagreement revolves on power or status. It could even be pseudo conflict which is a perceived conflict based on false assumption and dilemmas. Basically, Emma and Isabella are having a difference of opinion and they do not seem to be able to communicate with each other to be able come to a compromise on their own. Emma feels it should be hands-on learning because of how her sister teaches. Where as Isabella feels it should just be a lecture due to her ten years of experience with these staff members.
Some strategies the manager could use to resolve the conflict between Emma and Isabella to create a supportive climate again is the resolving conflict.
- Resolving conflict
- Listen to all parties before trying to determine solutions
- Bring everyone together to talk about the issue

- Work to resolve the conflict as soon as possible
- Encourage collaboration
- Establishing rapport with one another
- Building trust to allow everyone to share information openly and honestly
- Valuing team members

He could try anyone of these types of conflict resolvers.
The defensive climate created by this conflict will affect the workplace relationship between Emma and Isabella in a few different ways. Isabella may resent Emma for not taking her ten years into consideration, and Emma may resent Isabella for walking away from the training. If there is tension between Isabella and Emma then it may spread throughout the office affecting other staff and even the consumers. Some of the impact it may have on the other staff is possibly the other staff may feel the need to pick sides of either Emma or Isabella. It may impact the consumers who use the clinic because if there is tension in the office the consumers may pick up on it and it may make them feel uncomfortable to be around Isabella and Emma. The consumers may not want to come into the office because they may feel as if they are not receiving the best customer service or professionality.
