My name is Nik Davis. I have recently taken a job with an organization called Mercy Corps. Mercy Corps is a not-for-profit organization that helps with problems certain area of the world may be facing. Many of the jobs at Mercy Corps are volunteer positions that provide living stipends and help with student aid, rather than pay wages. Some positions held with Mercy Corps are internships, and some positions are salary positions as is the one I just accepted. People from all of the world work for Mercy Corps, as it provides aid all over the world. I have flown to the island Kava in the South Pacific. I am a recent graduate and a very excited to get started on big project I have been assigned. I will be working with Alex Smith, the director of strategic management; she was here in Kava at our office when I arrived. The condition of the island was not at all what I expected. Kava is an island in the south pacific that has been affected with numerous natural disasters, such as tsunamis, hurricanes, tornados, floods, volcanic eruptions, earth quakes, and fires. The United States government has authorized private organizations to provide humanitarian aid and supply the resources needed to stabilize the island. Private security companies have sent ex-military employees to Kava to help gain control of the island. Terrorism within the country has risen in recent years because of the destabilization of the island’s economy; the presence of security will serve as a caution against terrorism and aid in the goals of the humanitarian efforts taking place on the island.
The purpose of this report is to create strategies and implement a plan that will provide solutions to the current issues in Kava. The implementation of this report will assist in trade relations between the United States government and the government of Kava. The continual support of the United States humanitarian efforts carried out by private contractors is purposed to have a positive impact and create an environment that will be conductive to stabilizing the region.
