Depression

It is a medical illness which has caused due to the constant feeling of sadness and loss of interest (Nordqvist, 2013). It affects the individuals thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

People mostly gone through the situation of sadness, usually in the short period of time but when became the persistent feeling for the individual then it affects both physical and mental states. According to the Medical dictionary depression refers to a mental state or chronic disorder such as feelings of loneliness, sadness, low self esteem, self reproach, despair, withdrawal from the social contact and loss of appetite and insomnia (Stedman's Medical Dictionary, 2006). Generally sadness is the common phenomenon for the human being but when it reaches at the extreme state than it is called depression. Along with the multiple symptom extreme level of sadness also could be seen in the person suffering from depression.

Causes

Depression is a complex disease which can be occurred due to the various reasons some people may caused during the complex medical illness, others may be caused by the uncertainly demise of their family or beloved ones and others may be from their heredity (Brunilda, 2012). Some of the common reasons behinds the depression are as follows.

 Abuse: Individual may be affected by the Depression when they are physically, sexually and emotionally abused (Brunilda, 2012).

 Medications; While using the drugs (reserpine) to prevent from the high blood pressure can cause depression (Brunilda, 2012).

 Conflict; Conflicts within the family or personal conflict might cause depression.

 Uncertainly demise; Death of lose of a beloved one also increase the chances of depression.

 Genetics; depression also can pass through the generation to generations.

Symptoms

The symptoms of the of the depression are changing along with the time (Wilson, 2013). The most common symptoms of the depression are as follows.

The person who is suffering from the depression usually gone through the stage of sadness, anxiety or emptiness (Wilson, 2013). Decline in self esteem, helplessness and feeling guilt is also the most common symptoms that we can find among the people who are victim of depression. When the level of depression increase than the victim might have the symptoms of loss of sleep, weight loss or gain, extreme insomnia and eating disorder (Wilson, 2013).
