Drug abuse among teenagers
A vast number of teenagers today are facing the problem of drug abuse. It is a growing epidemic that is attaching itself to most of our children today. There are several ways that drug abuse can get started. One cause is drug abuse can be hereditary, it is also a known fact that most teenagers want to try the experience that comes with it. Peer pressure, a bad home, wanting to be cool all play a huge role in how teenagers get addicted to drugs. It is a very bad outcome when “just trying it” gets out of control and becomes an addiction. It is said that drug abuse is one of the most destructive diseases known to man. However there are ways to recover from teenage drug abuse.
It is stated in the Bible at 2 Corinthians chapter 7:1 “Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God“. It is very easy to always do what is wrong. Yet to do what is right is very difficult. Some causes of drug abuse among teenagers is so addicting it causes long term effects on the mind and physical lifestyle. A very sad end result of drug abuse is death. American students between 12 and 17 were surveyed regarding their use of Methamphetamine's. Of those, 1 in 33 admitted to having tried methamphetamine's at some point, with the average age of first-time users being 12. 90% of Americans alone, suffer from drug addiction before the age of 18.
Teenage drug abuse is in my opinion the number one health problem in America today. However there are ways to recover from the disease of addiction. Some of the resources available are; rehabilitation centers, both live in and out patient. Also there is therapy, medication, various meetings. They have meetings for every kind of drug, whether it be alcohol, pills, inhalants, needles anything.
