Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer.

what, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?

In an era of knowledge- based economy nowadays, education plays an integral role in our lives. Therefore, universities or schools where students can get academic knowledge require the high quality in educating. However, there is a widespread that graduates have no pratical experience to enter workforce, which they do not learn in their universities. In my point of view, when they are at universities, they should be offered practical skills as well as  academic knowledge.

On the first place, students require academic qualification which they have learn at the schools. It is a widely held that for  the ideal professional as a doctor or teacher, they need  academic know-how to rectify some problems logically and effectively. in addition, theoretical knowledge is of vital important to apply to formulate the strategies  for radical  development in our business.

One thing which is equally important is that pratical experience is necessary for graduates in workplace. It is undeniable that when they carry out their works, they also require pratical skills to accomplish their job in the successful way. Furthermore, the experiences from life enable students to boost career’s prospect and get highly promoted in the future. Therefore, universities should organize some internships in period of studying to facilitate students opportunites to get working experiences.

All thing considered, we may reach to conclusion that the function of universities is to ensure their students to apply what they have learned and fulfill students’ expectation to have good job. Consequenly, it not only avoids the unemployment which we are confronting but also makes a profound contribution to the prospect of the country.
