After interviewing my health care professional, I learned that health care is a very demanding and a very sensitive field of work. Most of what I have read throughout the course of the module has really opened my eyes, and has made me realize how patients, physicians, and other health care professionals interact with each other on a daily basis. How breaking one little rule can jeopardize a health care professional’s reputation, and the facility he/she works at.
Health care is a field that is advancing rapidly, technology is making tremendous strides in medicine and have impacted the field, and with technology, comes training, and education. My interviewee made me aware that every healthcare facility practically works the same way. Each individual has a duty, and that duty is to maximize the quality of life for patients.
She made me aware of how important and critical it is to screen potential employees, and how important it is to communicate with one another, so that they will be able to provide the best care possible for their patients. I learned that registered nurses advocate for not only the patient, but for the family as well. She also made me aware that at times, their role is always that of the mediator. Building trust and confidence with another will always provide the best results in care.
I enjoyed this project and I was really interested in getting to know more about what goes on in health care facilities, how they are managed, and how individuals interact with one another. I believe that achievements can be made if we can all communicate efficiently and effectively with one another. If physicians, nurses, etc. can all follow their code of ethics and put the patient first, more good will come out of healthcare, and the quality of life will be enhanced.
