MyMathLab Study Plan Details

Use the study guide outlined below to assist you as you work through this course.[pic 1]

MyMathLab and the course textbook are aligned closely. The Study Plan is one of three MyMathLab tasks you will do for your individual work each week.  

  • Take the weekly formative assessment before starting on the Study Plan assignment.  
  • To start the Study Plan in MML, click the menu button for Study Plan as shown.
  • Next, click the View all chapters link as shown.

You will see a screen with all chapters applicable to the entire course (all weeks) as shown by the red arrow in the screenshot below.

On the far right of the screen, you will see the possible number of mastery points for each chapter and the number of mastery points you have earned so far.

Ensure that the display is set to “Show All” as shown by the orange arrow in the following graphic.

To work on the Study Plan, do the following:

  1. Click a textbook chapter you are assigned for the current week. It will expand to show all the sections in that chapter of the textbook.  

  1. Click to select any one of the sections—most students do the sections in order.
  1. Click on the drop-down list of objectives (as shown by the green arrow in the graphic) to select an objective you need to work on. Those objectives with a graduation cap (mortarboard) are ones you have already completed. Those objectives with a purple pushpin or with nothing in front of them are objectives you need to work on (see purple arrow in the graphic).
  1. Select one of the objectives you need to work on.

Each of the objectives has one or more problem types associated with it. These problem types come from the course textbook.

For example, the following is a screen shot of the screen for a concept in MTH/212: 2.1-1: Graph equations in two variables.  

This concept has four problems associated with it from the textbook; namely, Ch. 2, Section 1, Exercise problems 1, 3, 4, and 5 (as shown by the black arrow in the screenshot below). MyMathLab has a video explaining how to do problems 3 and 5.
