Basic Message of Koran

1. There is but one God (Allah)
2. The last prophet was Muhammed
3. Koran is “Holy Book” and inclusive of social and political theory
4. Faithful who follow word and law of Koran are “guaranteed a place in eternal paradise that contains sensual delights”

Five Pillars of Faith

1. Declaration of creed “There is no God but Allah and Muhammed is his prophet”
2. Recite prayers 5 times a day
3. Charity to the poor
4. Ramadan – fast from dawn to sunset. Ramadan is sacred month and the month that Muhammed received his calling. Lunar calendar
5. Pilgrimage to Mecca (if possible) to the place of Muhammed’s birth. Also site of Kaaba and sacred black stone.
