Personal Development Plan

After completing my first year of study in ….., I feel I need to utilize the opportunity I have, of attending college, further. Therefore, I have set up my own personal development plan for the next 12 months, which will improve my personal and professional skills, keeping them in line with my chosen career. I feel that once implemented and monitored it will help me develop new skills and tackle any weaknesses I would like to improve.

As part of my personal development plan I decided to carry out a personal skills audit, in which I reflected on and assessed my current strengths, weaknesses and areas for development.

I was able to identify the following personal developments I have undertaken as part of my first year in college, which I would like to continue to build on.

- Research and Academic Writing

During the year I was tasked with a number of assignments I had to complete in order to past the year. This has given me the opportunity to develop my both my research and academic writing skills. I would take part in classes where we were given feedback and advice for such assignments and as a result I am confident with these skills that I have developed.

- Presenting and Public Speaking

Having not presented a project in front of a crowd in a number of years I was exciting to get the task of presenting an assignment, with the use of PowerPoint. Presenting is something I very much enjoy doing, however haven’t been given many opportunities to deliver such.

- Digital Savvy

Over the course of the year I was expected to submit a number of different assignments. This gave me great experience with using different computer programmes such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Thus I was able to develop my digital skills, and I am very happy with the result. I attended lectures in which we were educated and given notes on these programmes. This gave me a set of extremely valuable skills, which I know will be of great use for the rest of both my student and professional careers.

- Collaboration

I was able to develop my collaboration skills due to the group assignments I had to complete. I learnt how to function efficiently and appropriately in a group. Also it taught me to accept constructive criticism and apply the advice. On top of the group assignments I was able to improve my collaboration through participating in a number of extracurricular activities with college societies.

Also from my personal skills audit, I composed the following list of areas that I would like to develop and their accompaniment objectives that I would like to complete within the next 12 months.
