In the life of Serena Williams
Serena Williams known to us as a famous tennis player, but do you really know anything about her? Serena was the youngest of five sisters Lyndrea, Isha, Yetunde, Venus, and last but not least Serena Williams. Both her parents were in her life and was very supporting in what their children did. Serena was born September, 26, 1981 in Saginaw, Michigan. Even though she was born in Michigan soon after her birth she and her family moved to Compton, Los Angles (a rough city in L.A.).
They believed in keeping it in the family, Richard Williams (dad and coach of Venus and Serena Williams)started their lessons very early in life. When you think of Serena you would never guess that her first and a lot of other lesson was at local tennis courts, at which time her talents began to show. Serena’s first tournament was when she was 4 years old . She won nearly every tournament at junior high level. Serena’s father tried to get Venus and Serena on the same team so they would not have racial problems and competition.
In 1993 Serena attended Rick Maccil’s Tennis Academy in Florida. In support of her dreams the family they decided to move to Palm Beach Gardens. Even though the Tennis Association didn’t recognize players so young Serena went pro at 14 years of age . Even though she started off rocky by losing her first big tournament in 1995, doesn’t mean it stayed that way for long! In 1997 she redeemed her self by coming back and beating #7 (Mary Pi ryc ). At that time Serena was all the way at the bottom of the scale but yet she was defeating these high ranked players . Ranked at the bottom of the charts she once again shocked us all by winning a game against # 4. By 1999 was Serena was #21 she managed to beat Idia before losing
