PART 3 -FINDINGS

As a group we started out our surveys by trying to get a feel for the crowed that we would be surveying. Our group wanted a good representation of our University and the students that attend.

1.The first question broke down the gender exactly who was taking our surveys across the campus. We looked first at the total number of male and female students across campus. By looking at the University Of South Carolina's Institution of Assessment and Compliance page we saw that there were slightly a bit more females on campus, but overall the numbers were rather close. After distributing the surveys and analyzing the data we realized that our participants were slightly more males then females. This could have been deterred by argument that males feel more comfortable talking to males that approach them about a survey since our group is comprised of all males.

2.Our next questions then went in to further figure out more about our sample and into the race of participants. As a group we tried to keep the participants as diverse as possible. Compared to the Universities statistical break down of the race among campus, the numbers seemed to workout to mirror the population of students at The University of South Carolina with the majority of participants being Caucasian.

Out of 40 respondents, three only replied very uncomfortable, which shows that majority of people are somewhat in a sense comfortable with concealed weapons personally.

5. Now that we had a solid feel about the demographic of our person being surveyed and how they felt about concealed weapons, we moved towards the direction of how they felt about concealed weapons being allowed on the campus. The question was, "How comfortable would you feel about fellow students (who were properly and legally licensed) carrying concealed weapons on campus? ". Our results showed that 37.5% felt somewhat uncomfortable, 32.5% somewhat comfortable, 20% very uncomfortable, and 10% very comfortable. These results indicate that majority of people are somewhat uncomfortable with others around
