PROCESS LAYOUT:
Calculation of Takt
• Takt is the time in which one product should get out of the process irrespective of its total assembly time.
• Calculations
Demand per annum = 30000 Nos product A .
Demand per Month = 30000/12 = 2500 nos
Demand per Day = 2500/25 = 100 Nos
Note: Considered there is 25 Working days in a month
No. of Shift = 1 Shift/Day
Total time Per Shift = 8.5 Hrs / day = 510 min.
Breaks and allowance = 30 min/shift
Available Time per shift = 510-30=480 min / shift
Takt time = Available time/ Demand per shift
Takt Time = 480/100 = 4.8 min per product
Note: The above calculation shows we need to produce 1 product in every 4.8 min, then only we could able to meet daily demand of 100 products.
Calculation of Man Power Requirement and number of station requirement.
Definition: Work content of a product is the total activity involved, in terms of time, to convert raw material into finished goods.
Work content of the Product A is 40 min
Takt of the product A = 4.8 min.
Number of station required = Work content/takt time
= 40 min/4.8 min = 8.33 or 9 stations (Ideally)
Man power required
