The ingredients of the proposed product, the Palm Shampoo are listed as follows,
1. Cleaning agents
Generally in the form of a surfactant system. The surfactant system that is commonly used is anionic surfactant, such as sodium lauryl ether sulfate (also often called Lauret sodium sulfate), natriumlauril sulfate, and ammonium compounds. In addition to surfactants, foam booster is also added to change the foam properties produced by surfactant.
2. Conditioner
Commonly used materials are cationic surfactants, such as olealkonium chloride, distearildimonium chloride, and isostearyl etildimonium etosulfat.
3. Functional additives
The material that is used as the additives functional material can control the shampoo viscosity. It is added to the shampoo in order to create a shampoo solution that is neither too watery nor too thick. Commonly used material are amphoteric surfactants, such as cocamidopropyl betaine and cocamidopropyl hidroksisultain. The other additive used is pH controller, so the shampoo has a pH between 3.5 and 4.5.
4. Preservative
Preservative is added to the shampoo formula in order to avoid the development of various type of bacteria, so the shampoo will not easily damaged. If the Shampoo formula is damaged then it can be harmful to the user health. Commonly used preservatives are sodium benzoate, parabens, EDTA tetranatrium.
5. Aesthetic additives
The aesthetic additives are added to the formula in order to boost the aesthetic aspect of the shampoo, such as dyes and perfume, so the shampoo will look more desirable to the consumers.
