Where Experience on the Job Counts More Than Academic Knowledge

In today’s changing career environment, there is an argument between the employers saying that the employees that graduate from vocational training will perform better on the job than the employees that graduate from universities. Vocational training is the education and training which aim to equip students with knowledge, know-how, skills and competences required in a particular occupation. On the contrary, university education is the training provided by the universities in order to prepare people to work in various sectors of the economy. However, it is a truth that employees from vocational training stand to perform better on the job.
First, employees with vocational training stand to perform better because the students learn hands-on experience in the class. On the contrary, the universities have provided the students with broad knowledge and basic skills. It is serves as the foundation for further learning. On vocational training, the school is focusing on developing the skills and knowledge, but not traditional book learning. For instance, there are differences between the nurses that graduate from vocational training and universities. The nurses that graduate from universities only have the basic knowledge of nursing. In contrast, the nurses from vocational training are more proficient and have a detailed knowledge about the nursing skills. Also, a student that graduates from nursing universities might have other supplement knowledge but the nurse from vocational training have a complete knowledge and experience in nursing as their training is more concentrated.
Second, vocational training consists of a smaller class than universities that the lecturer can get better attention for their students. Normally, university has a class with more than 100 students.
