People use critical thinking whether it is in the workplace or for personal use. I will define my version of critical thinking as well as Dictionary.com of the meaning of critical thinking. I will also explain why critical thinking is important. I will be providing examples and how it helps me in my daily life. I will tell you what my expectations for this class and what I expect out of this course are.
I would define critical thinking as challenging your mind on a particular situation that could be difficult or out of your comfort zone, determining the best outcome or decision of the case. Defining critical thinking as a conscious thought of something someone is thinking about solving or critiquing for a rational decision. According to Dictionary.com (2017), critical thinking means disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded and informed by evidence. It involves thinking about thinking. There is a criterion for critical thinking. You must be able to analyze data and information. With the data and information that's provided, look for the flaws that are in your argument.
Make sure the information you are providing is accurate and does not be a contradiction. Cogent the argument rooted in the information or data without the use of our opinion. Give a vigorous and persuasive argument from the information and data that you gathered. Also, make sure that you consider all parties involved and how your answer or conclusion could affect them. Critical thinkers think carefully with good sense. Critical thinkers also use logical thought patterns. They do not make rash decisions or conclusions. Also, critical thinkers do not make spur of the moment dissections based on emotions and beliefs. Research all data and scientific facts for the help of making a conclusion.
Without critical thinking, rational thought would be hard to come by. Everyone thinks to make decisions, whether they are positive or negative. It is the depth of thought that would determine whether it is or not critical. Examples can be making a decision of the paint being black or white. It could also be the choice of picking a color for your new car. Without critical thinking, your conclusions can cost you comfort or money.
An excellent example of critical thinking is when I went shopping for a car. By staying in a hot environment, choosing a black car would not a good suite for me. By selecting a black car, the heat may discolor the vehicle color. If I was to choose a red car, the cost of insurance could be higher, or the visual appearance may attract the police. I also had to take into consideration of the size the vehicle I was purchasing. These were examples of critical thinking that helped me make my decision.
