The Summary of Gardner

When comparing myself and my past experiences to the styles listed, I would say that I lean more towards being an auditory leaner. All my life I have enjoyed sitting and listening to lectures, stories, and the like. Intelligent discussion is also something that I tend to gravitate to. Usually I am able to hear something once or twice and submit it to my memory until I am no longer in need of it. I do however find it difficult to sit and read long instructions or passages at once, but if they are read out loud or broken down and explained to me, I can usually master the concept easily.
Interpersonal intelligence is the ability to understand the feelings of others. This is one of my strong points. I can usually get a good understanding of people by using this intelligence. I also use two other types of Gardner’s intelligences the most. They are Spatial and Linguistic. Spatial intelligence is the ability to use or create mental images in order to solve problems. When I try to do a math problem, I usually visualize the problem in my head and then solve it the same way. This used to be a problem for me when I was in school, as they wanted me to show my work and sometimes the answers just popped into my head. I did this the same way with spelling words. I visualize it in my brain and then spell it out loud or write it down
After reading, I do feel that I fit into more than one of the intelligence types. On one hand, I enjoy speaking and writing and I am usually able to verbalize my ideas fluidly, so in that aspect I would say that I have Linguistic- verbal intelligence. While I have some traits of the other types (musical, intrapersonal, body-kinestic) none of them are quite as prevalent as the aforementioned two. Knowing this, I will now be able to modify the way I take in information.
