Mental Health Facilitation Summary

        Individuals should not try to handle a crisis, disasters, traumas and violence on their own. It is a good idea to seek the assistance of a mental health facilitation that has a peaceful environment to assist individuals dealing with the crisis, disasters, traumas, and violence that may have an effect on their lives. Mental health facilitation is community-oriented peaceful building where individual can receive social support to help deal with the crisis, disasters, traumas, and violence (MHF, 2016). A mental health facilitation should be practical, flexible, supportive and respectful of each needs (MHF, 2016). My summary will give information in helping individuals that may or not be a crisis, disasters, traumas, and violence situation.

Physical and psychological reactions

         In a crisis, disasters, traumas, and violence individuals have different reactions that have effect on their mind and body. Crisis, disasters, traumas and violence can also call stress to individuals depending on the way the individual's reaction to the situation. Some of the reactions caused by a crisis, disasters, traumas, and violence are as follow: chest pain, headaches, fatigue, nausea, sleep disturbance, sweating, chills, and immune system and stomach problems (MHF, 2016). All these reactions mention can have an effect on you physically. Some individuals may not experience physical reactions but do have psychological reactions to a crisis. Psychological reactions such as a high risk to PTSD, avoidance, immobility, sadness, fear, guilt, sadness, nervousness, and confusion (MHF, 2016).

Questions you ask the person better to understand the situation and his or her needs

         In a crisis, disasters, traumas, and violence situation you have to provide the individual with a sense of safety identify their needs and assist with keeping the individual calm while you are asking a valuable question to gather information. Questions to ask an individual in a crisis are as follow:

What happen (MHF, 2016)?

Do you need help (MHF, 2016)?

Do you have food, water, and shelter (MHF, 2016)?

Do you know where your family or community members are (MHF, 2016)?
