Case Management Overview

Summary

There are 13 functioning roles broken down into four levels of employees who could carry out Human services (Southern Regional Education Board). These roles determine the demands of families, individuals and the general public. Further, these roles suggest activities and duties to fulfill the demands of clients, assuring the best available services are used to meet the needs of individual clients as well as communities as a whole. In the following pages we will discuss these roles and what their responsibilities are.

Roles of Human Service Workers

• An outreach worker reaches out to individuals with problems and guides them to the available services. They may work in a specific field such as a senior care center where they wouyld know the needs of aging individuals and ensures the residents of the center are connected to the services available to them.

• The broker is a link between services and the customer, the client. They get to kno what services are available so that when they meet a client with a need, they know what services will relate to the client.

• An advocate may work for an individual or a group. They fight for their clients and pleads their case for essential required services, policies, rules, and regulations on the client’s part. This may include various segments of workers joining hands for the benefit of individuals.

• The evaluator works to assess and understand the needs and issues of a client or community as a whole. These issues can be medical, cultural, educational or psychological. They help to make plans to meet the needs of the community and the clients within that community.

• The Human service worker can also act as a teacher-educator. This is accomplished by executing instructional programs and teaching.

• The behavior modifier acts tas the name implies, to help the client make changes to their life. They guide the client to see where changes in their behavior can make positive changes in their life.

• The mobilizer assists to attain new resources and assets for customers and communities. They connect companies, service providers and people together to create networks that function toger to get new resources to those in need.

• The consultant collaborates with other businesses and professionals to work on how they handle issues they may have and work with them to make improvements.

• The community planner’s job is to work with committees and community panels to examine their growth and how it benefits the customer and communities served.
