For Christian Identity class I was asked to question a family member, a friend, and myself which of five life attitudes I most resembled. I started with my mom. At first she started out saying, “Audre you are a little bit of all of these” but of course that didn’t help me at all. I told her to look deeper and be completely honest with me. She said I think of all these big dreams for myself but lack patience and, most of all, direction on how to pursue them. She finally came to the conclusion that I most resembled an idealist.

Next I went to my friend Spencer. I knew that he would be straightforward with me and give me an honest answer. He told me that I most resembled an idealist from what he’s seen so far with me. He told me I always fantasize about the perfect relationship but never really think about what really goes on “behind the scenes” as in real problems that occur in every relationship. I assume there’s no fighting and everything is perfect with all these couples I see, but even though I know that’s not true I just can’t seem to accept it so I continue my daydreams.

I actually have to agree with both of them. I too see myself as an idealist. I’m definitely somebody without much patience and also somebody who has a lot of dreams. I never really thought about how much I don’t realize what goes into fulfilling those dreams. I’ve always thought things will happen the way they’re supposed to be without me trying but I’m so wrong. I mean I’m not going to meet Justin Bieber or be in a job that I’m happy with if I just sit in my room! I have to go out there and do more things with my life that will get me closer to fulfilling my goals. I’m not saying being an idealist is bad. In fact I kind of like that I am one because everybody should be able to dream a little dream. But hopefully someday they too will figure out that things won’t just be given to you. You have to work hard in order to achieve them.
