Functional Behavior Assessment
1. Identify Problem in Concrete Terms
Susan hits another student on the play ground when she does not get her way.
2. Data Analysis: In observing Susan in multiple areas of her day by day all teachers involved and sibling interaction in her free time by her parents, her inability to control her anger only appears to be unstructured activities as seen on the play ground and in her back yard with peers and siblings. During classroom time it appears as if Susan is able to verbalized instead of acting on her emotions physically. It may be that when Susan is in physical activities she does not have the ability to self sooth. Very often during these period when she does not her her way she immediately resorts to anger. It appears that Susan has acquired the knowledge and skills to act appropriately during quiet time and it is assumed by staff that Susan is a good candidate for behavior change with the right treatment plans. Susan lives with her mother , dad and two sibling ages 8 and 6. Susan's mom believes Susan is inpatient with her younger siblings that tend to frustrate her. Family is intact but mom reports not knowing how to handle Susan at home when this type of behavior surfaces. Mom says that Susan appears jealous of attention that mom gives to her younger siblings. Family is of middle class income and Susan seems to have all her basic needs met.
There does not seem to be any personal gain from her behavior. She does appear to rece4ive a quick release of frustration from acting out.
Treatment Plan:
1. Goal
Susan will decrease acting out on the play ground by eighty percent. She will not hit more than two times per a recess period.
