1. Rationale for choosing Myanmar
This report will be discussing about the market cultural report on the host country, Myanmar. Then, it will also be provided for the different culture market insights between host country, Myanmar, and China and the business culture analysis using the Hofstedes cultural dimensions and focuses on the elements of culture in order to operate effectively in Myanmar.
Even Myanmar has been isolated since 1962; it started communicating with the international from 2011. Myanmar has a strength for the oversea company to set up the company in here is that it has rich natural resources such as gems, jade and jewelry, but the good quality process to run an end good cannot be founded. Therefore, some handicraft shop in Myanmar will send these natural resources to China to make a finished product. This is because China has a high technology to process these natural resources and the design for bounding these resources is also one of the tops all over the world. However, the time the customers need will be longer than 3 months because of the distance of these two countries. So, if the Chinese company set this type of company in Myanmar specially for making the finished product will be a chance of making a good profit more than in other countries.
2. Unique culture of Myanmar
Myanmar has a Buddhist country and has a unique culture, which is different from the other countries, is Novitiation ceremony and water festival.
Novitiation ceremony is a unique ceremony in Myanmar. This ceremony will celebrate during the summer holiday and before the water festival. In Myanmar, the boys over eight years old as a novice and twenty as an Ordained monk are compulsory to enter into the Buddhist order for a week or more. This means that it is a blessing for the whole family and themselves. The ceremony will include a parade near the pagodas on the first day and all the boys dressed up princes and their heads will be shaven in the afternoon. For all the girls, they also need to pierce their ears at the same time. This also is an important part of the Novitiation ceremony. Novitiation is the obligation for every parent, rich or poor, since it is believed to be a great meritorious deed, which could prevent him or her to be at the evil realm (Bravo, 2008). This ceremony is very specific and it cannot be founded in our countries.
Another unique culture in Myanmar is Thingyan, water festival. In Myanmar, the water festival is called “Thingyan”, New Year for Myanmar, and it will celebrate grandly. The purposes of celebrating this water festival are cleaning and purification before the end of the year.
