"THE DREAM FAMILY"

Here is a trustworthy saying: if anyone sets his heart on being an overseer he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach. The husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church? - I Timothy 3:1-5

The Apostle Paul gives us a description of what it is to be an overseer. We have all been given the noble task of becoming overseers in some area or another. God has given us children to look after; to some he has given ministries, also at your work place. Whatever we may have, God has called us to oversee it and that requires a balance. When we lack balance in our lives we must be weighed against an honest scale.

"A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his

delight." - Proverbs 11:1

Def. - Abomination: anything greatly disliked.

Def. - Balance (V): to weigh; to bring a steadiness or equal-weight.

What is a "balanced scale"?

2. Family

3. Ministry

After this scale, we will then find ourselves becoming more stable, centered, and steady. If there is no balance we will continue wondering why things just don't feel right and asking the question: "What am I doing wrong?"

I. A BALANCE IN MARRIAGE

1. Marital strong points

A. Having a Christ-centered marriage produces a healthy foundation.

"Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."

B. Commitment to building and nurturing your marriage produces healthy bonding.

Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband." - I Corinthians 7:3

C. Positive Communication produces understanding and learning.
