The Dr. Oz show that was watched was found on Hulu entitled, "How to Get a Checkup Without Health Insurance. This was a three and a half minute excerpt from an Oprah Show. This show gave a little information to people on how to get health checkups without having health insurance. Dr. Oz also talked about the plans for health care change in the United States with the Obama Administration. The targeted group for this segment is people without health insurance. In the United States this usually ranges from unemployed individuals to individuals who are not in benefited positions at work and cannot pay out of pocket for health insurance. Dr. Oz gave information on where to go online to see if individual states will help people who are uninsured. He also said that there may be a new bill covering children under 21 of immigrants in the future. Another good tip he gave the viewers is to call around to different physicians offices and tell them the situation as many will lower the prices, offer discounts and work with people. One tip I wish he would have given is to check out Nurse Practioners and sliding scale payment clinics. I have used a NP in the past and even though I have health insurance now, would still pay out of pocket to see her because she is so accommodating. I have also used the sliding scale clinics in the past, they get the job done. All in all, I thought this was an alright excerpt; however, I thought he spent too much time talking about potential changes and politics when he could have been giving more advice and information to the viewers to help their current situations.
