Dear City Council:
The purpose of this letter is to bring attention to a matter that has brought many concerns to the citizens of Sparkville. As a concerned citizen, restoring the ecosystem in Sparkville is pertinent in the preservation of wildlife, especially the aquatic wildlife. Grass carp, who are not native to the area but have been drawn here due to unnatural changes, have made it difficult for native species and plant life to flourish and maintain the balance needed.
Negative changes to the ecosystem has altered all facets of the lake. Native species such as bass fish are at an all time low. These low numbers are so miniscule that the city cannot hold the annual Bass Tournament. As you all well know, the city is now faced with a new problem of financial stability. The funds that are received from this annual event are huge in providing for the welfare of the community. Grass Carp are an invasive species and are not native to the lake. The city's decision to use an eco-friendly fertilizer to help with crops resulted in the migration of Grass Carp to the area. This fertilizer ran off into the streams and creeks that run into the lake causing a chemical reaction that helped with the increase in healthier plants in and out of the lake.
