Introduction:
Biologic is a product derived from living components or living organisms. Various products are obtained from human, animals or microorganisms through biotechnology. Biologics are classified into vaccines, blood components, allergens, tissues, genes, cells and recombinant proteins. The cation of proteins and cellular processes are controlled by the biologic products which involves the production of modified human hormones, vital proteins and components of immune system. They are also known as biologic response modifiers as they change the intracellular and cellular actions of biological operations.
Molecular Structure and Mode of Action:
Numerous diseases and conditions are treated by biologic drugs and is considered as one of the most advanced therapies. The diseases like Crohn’s -disease, rheumatoid-arthritis, diabetes, ulcerative colitis and various other autoimmune disease can be treated by available biologics. The lives of many people have been revolutionized who previously had no effective treatment options such as cancer treatment and few immune related conditions.
The biologic drugs are used for medical purposes such as
