Goals Case

Nursing is one of the most honorable professions. It is an area where I can be a leader, help people, and give back to the community. Working as a women’s health nurse practitioner, I focus on the overall care, health promotion, and counseling for female patients. I provide clinical care and advise patients on how to make educated and healthy lifestyle choices. After working as a floor nurse and a Women Health Nurse Practitioner for 13 years, I want to have additional training in order to move into a new area of nursing that will interest me and provides new paths to personal satisfaction and growth. Taking courses for master of nursing will embrace me with skills and a wide knowledge as a leader, and that will lead to better provider and give me more open doors for jobs that I would like to do. Many upper-level management, clinical and education positions require a master’s degree. Therefore, having a master’s degree in nursing today will give me the opportunity to combine previous career experience and credentials with my nursing expertise to create a unique niche for myself. The master’s degree program that I am planning to take feature different tracks that allow me to focus on management or an education track that prepares me to teach nursing courses. There's a critical need for nursing professors in the U.S. , so consider teaching as a way to enhance my career and help shape the future of nursing.
