In America there are more than 15 million people who have an alcohol problem and in that, 500 thousand of them are only between 9 and 12 years old. Alcohol causes neurological problems, cardiovascular problems, and cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, liver, colon, and breast and kills 24518 people a year. In addition, There are more deaths caused by tobacco use than all the deaths from HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined and has 4000 different non-natural chemicals including Benzene (petrol additive), Ammonia (toilet cleaner), Acetone (nail polish remover), tar, and much, much more. These numbers are at 393,600 deaths annually and another 49,400 deaths annually just from secondhand smoke exposure. These deaths occur because tobacco has been proven to cause coronary heart disease, strokes, chronic obstructive lung diseases and cancer in more than 11 different parts of the body. In practical terms, marijuana cannot induce a lethal response as a result of drug-related toxicity." Says a report done by the US Department of Justice.
Complutense University of Madrid completed a approve study in which they found that the chemicals in marijuana encourage the death of brain cancer cells by theoretically helping them eat them selves in of a process called autophagy. When mice with human brain cancer cells received treatment of THC injections daily for 20-30 days the university researchers, using an electron microscope, found that THC destroyed the cancerous cells while leaving healthy cells intact.
Another study done by a California Scripps Research Institute found that THC also prevented an enzyme called acetyl cholinesterase from creating "Alzheimer plaques" better than commercially marketed drugs.
In addition, marijuana is said to be addictive and there’s 250,000 people a year who are put into rehab for marijuana, and that’s 16% of everyone that is admitted into drug treatment but did you know only 3% of them is in there voluntarily? The other 97% of all people in rehab for marijuana are there by court order and most of them for only simple possession. Also there is not one addictive chemical
