2.         Background

Nature of Project

The nature of the project is purely public health engineering implementation.

Working as a design/consulting engineer in Asian Consulting Engineers I was assigned the task of Planning and designing of Sewerage system for Faisalabad Industrial Estate. Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) being the client appointed Asian Consulting Engineers for rendering consulting services for the preparation of all infrastructural facilities including planning and supervision of the estate.  

Objectives of project

The objectives of the project include:

• To promote economic development and reduce environmental hazards i.e. the industrial effluents in the form of sewage should be properly collected, treated and disposed off in an environmental friendly way.

• To develop a modern and state of the art industrial estate.

• To enhance public health awareness.

Nature of my work area

Nature of my work area includes:

• Hydraulic design of Sewerage system, which is supplemented with different allied activities.
•  Interaction with different departments for specifications, standards,                                                                     & coordination.
• Interaction with other engineers for the sake of coordination.
• Handling and supervising Junior Engineers & CAD operators etc.
• Design and Site Execution coordinator. (i.e. providing consultancy supervision to the construction team).

My Position in the organisation as a Design Engineer/Consulting Engineer is shown below.

Duty Statement:

My duties and responsibilities in this project are as under:

• Collection of relevant information & data available from existing industrial estates for the sake of basic input design parameters.
• Its analysis for use in the project.
• Planning and designing of Sewerage system for Faisalabad Industrial Estate.
• Providing consultancy supervision to the construction team for smooth execution of work.

3.         Personal Work Place Activity

Technical Details:

1. As there is no sanitary sewerage system in the vicinity of the project area, so I have to plan and design an independent sewerage system. The total project area for which the sewerage system is to be designed is nearly 2100 acres. The schedule of plots is presented in the following table.

As such wastewater from the said 734 and from other miscellaneous sources is to be safely collected and disposed off. The lengths of roads are about 53 km. The length of sewerage including service connection and trunk / interceptors is about 93 km.

My Work
