Existence of Belief:
Since the inception of the civilization, man has believed in good luck symbols usually called as ‘Lucky Charms ‘ . From gemstones to bracelets, almost anything can be and has been considered as a Charm. Almost every world culture is marked by the presence of Lucky Charms. It is believed that wearing a charm brings good luck to the beholder.
For centuries, people have searched for effective ways to improve their fortune.
Throughout history, there is the presence of things like lucky charms, amulets,
Talismans, in almost all civilizations.
According to Webster, author of ‘Spirit Guides and Angel Guardians', earlier these
Charms were in the form of speech or a song, but, as time passed people started having
more faith on solid objects as their luck symbols .
Many Charms have religious beliefs associated to them. For example, fish, which
symbolizes the Christian church, is believed to bring wealth and prosperity to the owner.
People believe that luck, either good or bad, can greatly transform their lives.
World of Lucky Charms:
For centuries, amulets are very commonly used Charms. Amulet is an object that thought to be a magical protection against evil or disease. People have worn amulets, for thousand of years, to protect them from trouble and bad luck. Earlier, it used to be a natural item like a semi precious stone or an animal's tooth but now it includes medals, statues, rings, bells and many other objects.
William Callaway , an American who is fond of enquiring and buying unique amulets and charms , found that wearing more than one Buddha necklace is one of the very commonly used charm in Thailand . His investigations further reveal that ‘Knots' are also considered as amulets as they are thought to trap evil spirits.
Apart from amulets, ‘talismans' are also a form of luck charm that is believed to provide positive energy and good luck. According to Webster, a six-pointed star is a very famous talisman. This star talisman is made by overlap of two triangles; one pointing upwards signifies male energy, fire and the sky, and one pointing downwards stands for female energy, earth and water.
