There are many websites available when it comes to researching medical issues and they come from all forms of government, local, state or national. There are also those within the medical field as well; however, the purpose of this paper is to look at how the government on all levels provides information to the people of the nation on the topic of Ebola. Three of the websites use to conduct this research are as follows: louisvilleky.gov, kentucky.gov, and cdc.gov. The areas that will be examined are information overlap, inter-governmental cooperation, and how they each define public and community health.
Information Overlap
As research started on the local level using louivilleky.gov and searching information for Ebola the local government only provided fact sheets from larger governmental agencies such as the American Public Health Association and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC; therefore, there is defiantly information overlap through the local government, they are letting the larger agencies take the lead in providing the public with the vital information.
Looking into the state agency using kentucky.gov more information is given, within seconds 31,200 result came up providing those searching with fact sheet, preparedness information, and screening criteria for health care professional; this information can be both helpful and overwhelming. There are links to many of the national government agencies as well as links to other pages within the state site; they also have links to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure and waste management.
The CDC has an entire page dedicated to Ebola, on it there is no trouble find information it is one of the easiest websites to navigate through. From the main page a researcher can find out quickly signs and symptoms, transmission, risk of exposure, and outbreaks; also guidance for those within the medical profession, prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The CDC is working with other national and world agencies to provide the needed information to prevent additional deaths form Ebola.
Working Together
It is easy to see that most of the local and state governments use the information provided by the larger national agencies. They pass the information on through their websites to the public as well as medical professionals.
