Of the three civilizations discussed in class I am amazed with Chinese civilization because of two reasons:
- I’m amazed on how big China is and how they give so much importance to their culture and how it is still intact today thus being,
- It’s the only ancient civilization that has continued up to this day.
After studying them I came to realize that civilizations are….
1. Always has a cycle of rise and glory then there would be a tipping point so that it will come to an end.
2. The backbones of the civilizations that are currently in the place where they once lived.
If I were to choose a new religion it would be Buddhism because of the following reasons/considerations….
1. I like the way on how they do not worship a single entity - nor a dozen - and put all their hopes and wishes to that entity,
2. But rather put the ending of their suffering in their own hands.
Of the four religions discussed in class I find them similar in many ways such as:
1. All of them hold a golden rule of being good to others/ your neighbor
2. All of them believe in peace, with others and with one’s self.
I am a Muslim in the sense that I believe in peace and in can be found through faith
I am a Buddhist in the sense that I believe that to end your suffering one must learn to let it go
I am a Confucian in the sense that I honor those who are ahead of me
I am a Hindu in the sense that I believe that to attain peacefulness in life I must get rid of the distractions
If I were to describe my teacher’s religious affiliation from the four religions/philosophy mentioned above, it’s got to be Buddhist. Why? Because I can see that she practices morality, concentration, and wisdom and I think the one thing makes her fluid with other religions is because in Buddhism is a non-theistic religion which does not believe in a creator.
