Chad is officially known as Republic Of Chad that located in north central of Africa. It is located bordered on the north by Libya, on the south by the Central African Republic, on the east by the Republic of Sudan, on the southwest by Cameroon, and on the west by Nigeria and Niger. The country is sometimes referred to as the "Dead Heart of Africa' because of its proximity with the deserts. The capital of Chad is N’Djamena and it is the largest city of Chad. The size of Chad is 495, 753 square miles and land boundary length is 3,708 miles. The estimation population of Chad in July 2011is 10,758,945 and the population of the growth rate is 2.009%. The official language of Chad is French and Arabic. Moreover, they also able to communicate in Sara (South of Chad area) and other 120 different languages and dialects. For region, citizens in Chad are Muslims, Catholic, Protestant, Animist and Atheist.Based on the UN Human Development Index, Chad is one of the poorest countries in the world. The fragile state of Chad’s economy is highly attributed to the ongoing civil war. Chad’s economic structure is highly agriculture-centric, with an underdeveloped industrial sector.

Chad Economic Structure: GDP Composition

According to the 2009 statistics in the CIA World Factbook, Chad’s GDP stands at US$15.85 billion, which is 1% below the previous year’s level. Based on the GDP figure, the country ranks 133rd in the world. Agriculture is the mainstay of the Chadian economy, with a GDP share in excess of 57%. This sector provides regular and seasonal employment to more than 80% of the working population. However, the industry and service sectors contribute 7.5% and 35.3% to the GDP, respectively.
