INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT (ACC 4001) : CSR PROJECT

An overview of CSR program

Nowadays, we can see that from day to day the number of diabetes disease problem in Malaysia is very high compare to others country. Because of that Malaysia has put as the number one of the country in Asean for having the highest number of diabetics and sixth in the western pacific region. According to The Star Online of 14 June 2013 reported that Jong Kong Chong, Obesity Prevention Council President has said that compared to 2006 where only 8.6 percent adults in Malaysia had diabetes, the most recent study done in 2011 showed 15.2 percent adults were diabetic. Diabetes is a major cause of premature death, blindness, kidney disease, heart disease, stroke, limb amputation and other significant health problems. With diabetes, life expectancy is significantly reduced. One of the hidden impacts of diabetes is the loss of productivity from disability, sickness, premature retirement and premature death. Throughout this, across in my mind i need to take an initiative to prevent this problem before it is become more serious. As one of the Staff at Ministry of Health Malaysia i would suggested to Ministry of Health Malaysia to carry out a program that can be reduced the number of diabetes in our country. [pic 1]

The program that i have suggested is to awareness diabetics that healthy lifestyle can  prevent or reduce their diabetes level. My main focus is on the people at the first level stage of diabetes which is we call it ‘‘prediabetis’’. My program is one of the example program that related with Corporate Social Responsibility. According to Ghillyer author of Business Ethics Now published in 2012, Corporate Social Responsibility is defined as the actions of an organization that are targeted toward achieving a social benefits over and above maximizing profits for its shareholders and meeting all its legal obligations. Corporate Social Responsibility also known as corporate citizenship and corporate conscience. One of the activity in this program is where we organized seminar or talk about the dangerous of diabetes, effect of the diabetes to the life and the important of practices healthy lifestyle to prevent or reduce their diabetes level. This program will be organized in all of the state in Malaysia through Ministry of Health of respective state. Not only seminar, we also compulsory to all of the prediabetes to practice healthy lifestyle like eats a healthy meal and physical activity and drink more water. Then, they need to go to nearest clinic once in a month for treatment or check weather their diabetes is reduced or not. The clinic will send the treatment report to Ministry of Health Malaysia per month. Diabetics that have a positive result of reducing their diabetes will be received a grand prize as a remuneration of their effort that supported our program to achieve the objective. Diabetics that have a positive result proved that they are practice healthy lifestyle wisely and for those who have negative result is sure they not practice it well. So, in making sure they also have positive result in reducing their diabetes we will ask them to come to the nearest clinic one in a week to do treatment or check until they also have positive result in reducing diabetes. By compulsory them to do treatment or check for regularly surely they will practice healthy lifestyle wisely.[pic 2]
