1. My programming optimization problem is an investment problem and consists of a single company, Winslow Savings, making multiple investments. The problem is that Winslow Savings wants to make multiple investments but wants to determined the amount of money that should be placed in each investment that will maximize their total interest earned over a four month period while also having at least 10$ million available the fifth month; the company has $20 million available for investment. The company also wants to only invest in 2 month government bonds and 3 month construction loans earning 2% and 6% respectively. As a result, the company wants to make a portfolio. However, there are a few constraints of which Winslow Savings has to abide by. The first two constraints was described above being that the company only has $20 million dollars to invest and the company wants to have at least $10 million to start with during the next period. There are a few other constraints that will be described below such as, the funds not invested in either the government bonds or construction loans will be liquidated and will be invested locally and earn ¾ of 1% or .0075 in decimal form per month. The last constraint is that the company does not want to have more than $8 million in either government bonds or construction loans.

While stutter-stepping into adulthood from a young, thoughtful child, I always had the this philosophy, this dream that one day the “D-list” will someday help me be placed on the world’s “A-list”; I just have to get my name on list first. The “D-List” is no other than the Dean’s list of the future college or university that I eagerly waited to attend. However, to be a part of the list is every student’s lucid dream that could quickly evolve into a puzzling nightmare. This dream became my ultimate goal and after leaving high school, I was determined to make it my future because, after all, if I want to be achieve anything in the world, then it would have to begin with the Dean’s list, or at least that’s what I thought…

Hard work. This is what was taught to me while growing up from my single mother.
