Paragraph 1

We should make laws letting undocumented peoples stay in the U.S. because like “Granting Illegal immigrants would boost U.S. and state Economies”, says the immigrants take lower paying jobs which benefits the employers as a cheap source of labor. There are many simple household tasks that would cost more money if a legal citizen would do it than an illegal citizen. These jobs can be moving lawns or cleaning houses. These are simple tasks that anyone can do but the people don’t have the time to do them so they get the illegal immigrants to do it for much cheaper rates than other businesses. The book Enrique’s Journey also discusses the hardships of immigrants when it talks about Lourdes’s journey to America and to give her Family a better life. She worked many jobs under terrible conditions just to get by. She did all of this by herself which made it very difficult. She did this all not for herself, but for her family. Though many immigrants came to the U.S. illegally, it is important that we as a nation, welcome those who are in dire circumstances and need opportunities.

When a person wants to do something well, it’s a good idea to prepare thoroughly for it. For example, the author of Enrique’s Journey, Sonia Nazario, who spent time with Enrique’s family and went to Honduras in order to write her book. It helped her understand the hardships of Enrique’s life and showed the struggle of where his family’s from. She traced Enrique’s steps to his journey and if she’d not have done it, the book would have much less detail and probably wouldn’t be the same as the one we have now. By doing this, she has written a great novel of the struggle of what some people have to go through.
