Getting The Most Out of Taxpayers Dollars
Today, in our society, it seems like we are living in the end of times. In America, crimes of all sorts are committed every single day. Depending upon the crime and state it occurred, that will determine how much time is served. One thing that many tax payers are burdened with is paying for the incarceration of prisoners. The money used to house and feed prisoners can go toward better education and infrastructure.
In a nation that seems to have an issue with the over population of its prisons, I present to you this modest proposal. With the high number of prisoners that are incarcerated and the number of wars that are arising throughout the world, we need to make better use of our prisoners. Some citizens may or may not agree with the training of incarcerated personnel that have fifteen to twenty years of time remaining on their prison sentence to serve on the front lines of our nations military. The inmates who have already served five years of their sentence would at that time become property of the United States Government. They would serve their nation on the front line duties for duration of four years at a time.
Some of the men and women who are on active duty would be assigned to other duties that are not so stressful or dangerous. The process would work like this; the men and women would be assigned as property to the government, tagged, and micro chipped just in case they try to flee. Not every inmate would qualify for this program. Extensive mental evaluations will be performed. Only the ones that have been screened psychologically who are physically and emotionally fit would be eligible.
The program would not be designed for the Charles Manson's and the Richard Ramirez's of our society, but for the men and women who have a prison sentence up to twenty years. The program would be designed for the personnel that are not a real danger to
