One of the organizations which I have worked for over the years has an incentive plan that perfectly aligns with their organizational objective in my opinion that of H&R Block. This alignment has helped H&R Block grow throughout the years into the organization they are today. “H&R Block is one of the world’s largest tax service providers, utilizing more than 100,000 highly trained tax professionals and having prepared more than 550 million tax returns worldwide since 1955 (2).” Their mission statement describes in a simple sentence that their long term goal and objective is “To help our clients achieve their financial objectives by serving as their tax and financial partner (1).” In order to meet this organizational objective they focus on hiring professionals who are both knowledgeable and committed to a long term partnership with their clients and the company. H&R Block professionals are available to assist their clients throughout the year with a wide arrange of tax and financial services some of which include mortgage assistance, payroll services for a small business or even that dreaded income tax audit. Through this long term commitment and dedication to continuing education we can strive to help our clients meet their objectives.
A common phrased used by those at H&R Block is “To Learn is to Earn(3).” As a first year preparer we are required to attend a sixty hour class which focuses on a wide range of personal income tax topics. To become even more proficient in current and unique tax situations the company provides an incentive for those who continue to participate in furthering their education within the organization. The company has established credit ranges where when an employee exceeds a given range for a particular year they are placed in a higher compensation bracket.
