INDUSTRIAL IMMERSION TOUR
Educational tour gives us ideas likewise opportunities to visit prestigious places that may help us visualize what we are learning at school. This activity helps us develop a strong relationship towards other students, as well as to develop our personality since all of this can be learn through experience. In addition, it is also important for every student to acquire more knowledge through actual exposure to the different places (factories).
February 9, 2016, I woke up at exactly 6:00am to attend the briefing which was held at University of Northern Philippines. It is a very special day for it is also the day that we, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Management Accounting, will officially travel to Manila. We prayed first for a safe trip before we go. During the travel, some are chatting, the others are sleeping and specially, picture taking. We departed Pasay City, Manila at around 4:30 in the morning (February 10, 2016).
February 10, 2016, First Day. We had our breakfast at around 6:00am. After an hour of travel, we reached our first destination, Monde Nissin Corporation which is located at Sta. Rosa, Laguna. First thing, we are oriented on what we are going to see inside the factory, which is how they produce or make their top product, noodles. We are overlooking the machines and all the factory workers from the top view of the building and while at it, a guide is with us whose lecturing us about the steps on how noodles are made. Next, is when they taught us how to make home-made noodles with just 3 easy steps. Lastly, we are able to buy different products of Monde Nissin Corporation (such as noodles, pastas, biscuits, drinks and many more) at factory price which we gladly buy since it has lesser price. Afterwards, we ate our lunch at Mang Inasal then headed to Extrimili Suites after. We ate our lunch around 6:00pm, after dinner we immediately got back to our rooms to take photos and enjoy the bed, we started chatting about what happened that day until we drifted to sleep.
February 11, 2016, Second Day. Same as the first day, we ate our breakfast at around 6:00am and after, we immediately go to our first destination for the day which is the Gardenia Bakeries Philippines Incorporation. We started with a short background about its history and I was surprised to know that it is one of the known and respected in the line of producer of bread, considering that it doesn’t only operate here in the Philippines but also in other countries around Asia. We were able to see how they produce bread from mixing the raw materials to the finished products. I was able to learn that gardenia bread has only 15 days before it reaches the stated expiration, but the guide told that the bread has a 5 day allowance before it is unable to eat. I must say as an opinion that there are too much waste or reject every production but when I asked the guide, he told us that it isn’t really going to waste because they sell it to the fish farms at a lower price which is a win-win situation. We were also able to buy their products at factory price. Afterwards, we headed to our second destination for the day which is the Jollibee Commissary or Zenith Foods Corporation. During the orientation, the speaker told us that there were two factories present in Manila and the one we entered produces some of their many products such as buns, hotdogs, pies, frozen patties and many more. We were also able to know that Jollibee provides products to other food chains such as Greenwich, Red Ribbon and Chow King. Jollibee, slowly but surely, is making its way to being global. It started building branches in other countries and is now ready to compete with other fast food chains. Afterwards, the professors allowed us to go to Mall of Asia until 5:00pm. We had our dinner at around 6:00pm. Some enjoyed the pool that was ready to use after they eat. Some took pictures and some got to sleep early for they are tired and exhausted.
